This year the South Devon town of Kingsbridge has won top accolades at both the RHS national and regional level in the Britain in Bloom competitions.
At the national awards held at the Headquarters of the RHS, Lindley Hall, Westminster they received a gold medal, best national horticultural achievement award as well as the chairman, Graham Price being recognised with a prestigious RHS Community Champion Award. The group have also received a gold medal, SWTA Trophy and group winner in the small town category at the recently held regional awards held in Crewkerne, Somerset.
Graham Price chairman : “The RHS Britain in Bloom is the largest horticultural competition in Europe and brings together communities who work to improve their environment and to recognise the importance that horticulture can bring to improve health and wellbeing. Kingsbridge has been completely transformed over the past few years with wonderful floral displays and outstanding sustainable planting which has helped keep our town attractive and vibrant throughout the year. Our shopkeepers, local businesses and town Council recognise the importance of our work which is very much appreciated and gives our dedicated group the incentive to maintain our high standard for everyone to enjoy.”

A special civic community service will take place to commemorate the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at 11.00 a.m. on Saturday 17th September at St Edmunds Church, Fore Street, Kingsbridge, TQ7 1PP.
The Town Mayor, Councillor Philip Cole, Civic Leaders, representatives from the Royal British Legion and other organisations will be present.
All are welcome to attend this community time of coming together in a service of remembrance and thanksgiving to express our grief and also thankfulness. The service will also incorporate the proclamation for the accession of His Majesty King Charles III.
Floral tributes and bouquets may be left at the Bandstand and a Book of Condolence is available for your written messages at the Council Offices, Quay House between 9.30 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Kingsbridge Town Council is delighted to announce the return of “Love Your Park” a family fun day at the Recreation Ground on Sunday 21st August, 11am – 4pm.
Love Your Park is a celebration of everything our Recreation Ground has to offer and a community event with something for everyone.
This will be an excellent day out with lots and lots of free entertainment and fun for all ages. Activities on offer will include Punch & Judy, flea circus, bouncy castles (small charge), animal petting, cage football, community tennis sessions, Uncle Tacko & Ginger, karate demonstrations, flowerpot painting, crafting tent, yoga, French boules, forest bathing, table tennis, a bucking bronco, go-green activities, children’s story telling, lawn games and more. There will also be stalls, PA music on the lawn and Baked Goodies café will offer a range of refreshments, as well as hot food from 12 noon. For more information, pick up a flyer at Kingsbridge Information centre – everyone is welcome to come and enjoy our fabulous park!

Kingsbridge Town Council awards small cash grants to local clubs, groups and organisations which are actively involved in recreational, social or cultural pursuits within the community.
Bids are now invited for the awards in the current financial year 2022-23. Application forms, alongside the necessary conditions for an award, can be obtained from the Council Offices at Quay House or by downloading from www.kingsbridge.gov.uk or by phoning 01548.853296. Completed forms, with supporting documents, are to be submitted to the Council Offices by Friday 8th July 2022.
