Annual Town Meeting & Pump Track Consultation Event

10.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. Saturday 1st March 2025, in the Market Hall, Fore Street

It is a mandatory requirement for town and parish councils to hold an annual meeting for their residents between March and June.  The purpose of the meeting is to provide the opportunity for local electors to receive reports on their council’s business and to discuss community matters.

The Annual Town Meeting 2025 for Kingsbridge residents, similar to previous years, will be held as a drop-in session (rather than a formal meeting in the Council Offices) between 10.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. on Saturday 1st March in the Market Hall, Fore Street.

This is a great opportunity to meet your Town Councillors face-to-face to discuss matters which are important to you, to provide your own ideas, come up to speed with the latest news and get that niggling issue ‘off your chest’.  Chiefly, how will the Town Council spend its portion of your council tax next financial year 2025/26 from 1st April (which will be £113.61 from your total council tax bill for a Band D household).

If you have planning, flooding, recreation etc. matters which you wished to bring up then we will have our adopted Neighbourhood Plan (alongside Churchstow and West Alvington), Community Emergency Plan and Open Space, Sports & Recreation Plan all available.

It will also be an opportunity to pick up an application form to nominate your Kingsbridge Community Champions for 2025.

We will also have the Skatepark Committee alongside us because at the same time we are hosting a consultation event for a new pump track (purpose-built track for cycling) in town with the pivotal issue being “Where should it go”?

Kingsbridge Town Council is the local authority closest to Kingsbridge residents.  It is consulted on almost everything that happens in the Kingsbridge community and is responsible for a wide range of public realm business in the town.

Please pop the date and time in your diaries and phones.  We look forward to seeing you.

Time To Nominate! 2025 Kingsbridge Community Champions

Kingsbridge Town Council is once again on the lookout for Community Champions! Do you know someone who has gone above and beyond doing wonderful things for the Kingsbridge community and deserves to be recognised?

Those people who give their time freely and whose energy, enthusiasm, and efforts make our town a better place to live. You are invited to nominate an individual and/or community group that you feel should be celebrated. This can be any activity, big or small, from all kinds of people: a friend, work colleague, neighbour, or volunteer.

The Kingsbridge community is encouraged to elect their own Champions with as few rules and conditions involved as possible. All you need to do is to complete a nomination form which can be downloaded below, pick one up from the Council Offices at Quay House, call 01548.853296, or email reception@kingsbridge.gov.uk.  Nomination forms will also be available from the Library, Kingsbridge Information Centre, and a few shops in Fore Street.

It will only take you a few minutes nominate someone. It’s easy, so let’s give local people the credit they deserve!

Deadline for nominations is Friday 14th March 2025.

KINGSBRIDGE LOVE YOUR PARK 2024 RETURNS!!

The incredibly popular “Love Your Park” brought to you by Kingsbridge Town Council, is back for the third year running with lots of free entertainment and fun. The event is taking place at The Recreation Ground on Sunday 11th August from 11.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

“Love Your Park” is a celebration of everything our Green Flag award winning Recreation Ground has to offer and a community event with something for everyone.

New for this year the tomfoolery of Uncle Tacko’s Imaginarium, a traditional sideshow tent and “Tinglary” barrel-piano will bring an authentic feel of the fairground to the park.  Inside you enter a world of magic, wonder and sheer nonsense for all the family.  Experienced professional performers will be creating different inter-reactive shows throughout the day including a flea circus, storytellers, silly songs and variety entertainment. Like the old sideshows of the fairground, the Imaginarium will transform the park into a great attraction.  Also back this year! traditional Punch & Judy and the “Dum Tink” Mighty Striker, a Victorian try-your-strength machine.  For a small charge folk of all ages can whack the nobble and try to ring uncle’s bell and win themselves a sticker.  You have to have a go!

There will be a bouncy castle assault cause (small charge) or try your balance on the surf simulator.  Other activities include cage football, community tennis sessions, table tennis, croquet, boules, flowerpot painting, fun nature photography walks, flower pressing, crafting activities, lawn games, stalls and more!  Good weather has been ordered which means there will also be gymnastics club and dance displays.

Crooked Tempo Samba Band and the Kingsbridge Silver Band will perform live on the lawn.  Our resident “So Jo” Park Cafe will offer a range of refreshments or try a delicious wood-fired sourdough pizza from Taste of the Wild Pizza or a treat from Pete’s Ice Cream Van.

For more information, download the flyer below or pick one up at Kingsbridge Information Centre and the council offices – anyone and everyone is most welcome to come and enjoy our fabulous park!
